Participation in WorldSkills competitions

WS Kazan 2019

Worldskills is one of the most prestigious annual competitions for smart and talented youth around the world. The WorldSkills mission is to develop professional skills and reveal the best aspects of professions so that young people can understand where their skills can be useful. WorldSkills presents a variety of competitive competencies, each of which corresponds to a particular profession. In Russia, the WorldSkills Russia movement is represented among schoolchildren, lyceum students, students and representatives of various professions.

Since 2019, our laboratory has been participating in WorldSkills competitions at various levels: intra-university championships, inter-university championships, world championships. In 2019, our students qualified for the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 and took third place. Also in 2019 and 2020, prizes were taken at the All-Russian interuniversity championships.

Internships

Representatives of the laboratory periodically participate in internships in various leading organizations, including OECD NEA (Paris), GRS (Munich), Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo). Internships are conducted in both short and long term formats. Internship topics can relate to different disciplines and have different goals.

In addition, within the framework of a cooperation agreement between NRNU MEPhI and the Tokyo Institute of Technology, our laboratory annually accepts students from Japan for training.

Participation in exhibitions, conferences, festivals

MEPhI Event

In addition to the Junior contests and WorldSkills competitions, members of our laboratory regularly take part in various exhibitions, conferences and festivals. For example, in 2020, they took part in the NAUKA 0+ festival, held in honor of the 75th anniversary of the nuclear industry. The stand of our laboratory was presented at the Laboratorium - a special platform developed by the VR cluster of Moscow State University based on the Artheon VR Museum and Unreal Engine.

In addition, our laboratory participates in various events, including the ICNRP Volga conference and the ECINT International Summer School on Engineering Computing in Nuclear Technology, during which participants are given the opportunity to communicate and discuss scientific and engineering issues with representatives of states from around the world.

All-Russian competition of scientific works of schoolchildren "Junior"

All-Russian competition of scientific works of schoolchildren "Junior" - an Olympiad with a research component, consisting of a subject Olympiad in the direction of the competition and defense of a scientific project in the profile of the competition section for schoolchildren of 9-11 grades. From among the winners, the organizers form a team for the Intel ISEF competition for scientific and engineering creativity of schoolchildren.

Since 2020, our laboratory has been participating in the preparation of students in schools and lyceums for participation in the competition. As part of the competition project, virtual and augmented reality applications are being developed with a focus on the possibility of their subsequent use at NRNU MEPhI.

An example of such work is the 2020 project: the creation of a digital twin of a thermohydraulic stand in augmented reality. The essence of the project lies in the possibility of visualizing the model and the state of the thermohydraulic stand in augmented reality based on the data obtained from the sensors of the experimental setup in real time.
